What Qualifies PRETLOW for SBOE?

Excerpts from Official Site: http://pretlow4education.com (Launched Feb-17-2011)

As the Ward 8 Member of the State Board of Education, Larry will work with his colleagues to establish standards and a viable curriculum that addresses the real-time issues that students, parents, teachers and schools are facing in today's communities while preparing students for life after earning their High School Diploma, rather or not they seek to further their education beyond High School.

He's a supporter of Education Reform efforts that seek to empower real-time learning-in-progress and building long-term futures for students for their own self-development and life-success; and not efforts to raise test scores for political gain and popularity as a Leader in Education Reform. No matter how many schools we build or teachers we hire and terminate students can only be reached if their needs are being met - and this is done by empowering students and preparing them for the workforce, college and adulthood.

Larry understands that not every student wants to become a college student, and that's their personal choice that includes consideration of finances and where their life is at the moment and where they want their life to be later. Some students may prefer finishing school and working or working while in school. Students want to know "what's in Education Reform for me?" - Because they have yet to see how previous efforts have impacted them for the better.

Larry's passion for seeing students, parents, teachers and schools being successful arms him with the task of ensuring that the curriculum being instructed to students caters to the environment in which its being taught - in order to extensively reach students by developing their ability to learn, understand and then execute their newly-gained or revitalized knowledge.

Supporting Larry T. Pretlow II for election to the office of Ward 8 Member of the State Board of Education is a move forward in the right direction. He's a fresh and new spirit that is not fearful of truly speaking up for what makes better sense, CHANGE for our youth!

What Qualifies Larry for SBOE?
Larry's commitment and passion for Education, Youth and reshaping our city so that the quality of life is improved and that all enjoy the wonderful opportunity to be successful despite their backgrounds; and simply because his heart has proven to be in the right place - willfully stepping up to take ACCOUNTABILITY and to carry the burden of responsibility that just might be too heavy for others at times. He's willing to advocate for what's needed and not what sounds good. A Leader that listens and not a follower that stumbles.
